We embark from Kampala towards Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with the promise of adventure. The scenic drive from Kampala to Bwindi holds a stop at the earth’s equator, lunch in the town of Mbarara, and other short stops as we roll through the gorgeous highlands of Uganda. Arrive at your accommodations in time for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay at Gorilla Resort Bwindi. Meals include dinner.
Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters to meet your park rangers who will serve as your guides for the day’s excursion. Your trek into the mountains may range from thirty minutes to eight hours, but once you meet the gorillas, you will be able to spend one full, unforgettable hour with them. Gorilla tracking begins where the gorillas were found the previous day. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the great outdoors and return to your accommodations for dinner and an overnight stay. We will depart from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the morning, taking with us the tremendous memories of trekking with the gorillas. As we drive towards Queen Elizabeth National Park, we will pass through the Ishasha region of the park, famous for its tree-climbing lions. In the afternoon we will reach your accommodations, check in, and later enjoy a sunset game drive through the park. Wildlife here includes the striking Uganda kob, elephant, Cape Buffalo, hyena, hippo, waterbuck, lion, leopard, and nearly 600 bird species–a figure that competes for the highest number of any park in Africa. Relax in your accommodations in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The day begins before sunrise as we embark on a game drive in the park for a chance to see the lions at hunt and the hyenas before they make their daily retreat into the woods. Afterwards, enjoy a relaxing breakfast and lunch at the lodge. Later in the afternoon, we’ll set sail on the Kazinga Channel, exploring the waterway known for its various bird species and hippo population. Keep an eye out for elephants, as they often head for the water at this hour to drink from the shores of the channel. Dinner and an overnight stay at your accommodations. In the morning, we will depart from Queen Elizabeth National Park, stopping at Kyambura Gorge for a mid-morning chimpanzee trek. This hike takes you into the wooded ravine in search of primates, including chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and olive baboons. After the trek, we will continue on our way to Lake Mburo National Park, having lunch in Mbarara along the way. Settle in to your accommodations at Lake Mburo and later in the day take a walking safari in the company of a park ranger. Lake Mburo National Park is considered the best place in the country to witness the enormous Eland Antelope, zebra, Topi, Impala, and the numerous birds drawn to the Acacia tree. Dinner and an overnight stay at Mantana Camp. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
An early morning game drive greets you and the promise of more wildlife awaits! Explore the park on a game drive for a chance to see more zebra, leopard, jackals, and other incredible fauna. Relax over breakfast at lunch at your accommodations before setting sail on Lake Mburo. Here, you will have an opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, and a wide range of water birds, as well as other wildlife coming to drink at the water’s edge. After breakfast, we make our final journey towards Kampala, leaving Lake Mburo National Park. Along the way, we will stop at the earth’s equator in Uganda for lunch, tea, and a chance to see local crafts. We arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon. Meals include breakfast and lunch.
