Scottish Food and Drink Tours has been born out of a family which has produced Scottish Food and Drink for generations. Family kitchen tables laden with the best local food and drink and over hundred years of recipes passed from mother to daughter.
We want to support our local food and drink producers, our local shops, local farmers and foragers. We have taken time to build connections and partnerships with Scottish Food and Drink businesses who make real handmade food with a lot of passion.
You leave Edinburgh and travel to the Scottish Borders. This area of Scotland boasts beautiful landscapes, fascinating history, and the flourishing textile industry.
Start the day surrounded by Scottish Cashmere in Hawick, the world capital of cashmere. You will find the rarest yarns in the world behind Hawick’s industrial frontage. Here, lambswool from Australia and cashmere from Tibet is knitted into luxurious garments that grace the catwalks across the world. Pick up some tips for next season’s colours as well as designer collections at reduced prices.
Next, have a dram of whisky at the Borders Distillery to recover after your shopping spree. Located in a landmark building in the centre of town, this new distillery brings the production of single malt back to the Scottish Borders.
Once you are shopped out, it’s time for fine dining. You go to a high-end gourmet restaurant for a long and lazy lunch. An amazing meal made with local, sustainable and traditional ingredients is a perfect way to end an indulgent day.
History, foodie facts, secrets and surprises along the way.
