This tour is provided by

Taste of Toulouse

Help preserve a taste of place. By going on a Taste of Toulouse tour, you’ll also be supporting hard-working and talented local artisans and businesses that are, in turn, supporting the community and preserving the rich gastronomic heritage of SW France. I pick the locations we visit based on the quality of their products and service – not on cost – and spend generously at those businesses both on and off my tours.

  • approx. 3.5 hours
  • select Tuesday – Friday afternoons
  • maximum 8 people, minimum 2 people

Take a “Sweet Stroll” through the delicious – and delightful – world of French chocolate and pastry.

Spend an afternoon indulging in Toulouse’s top sweet creations, exploring chocolate and pastry shops in the charming city center. Taste the best that talented local artisans have to offer on this irresistible food tour!

What

Small group walking tour of Toulouse’s chocolate and pastry shops

When

select Tuesday – Friday afternoons at 3:00pm (see booking schedule for exact dates)

Price Includes

  • Guided small group tour
  • Chocolate, pastry, and beverage samples

All food and drink samples provided on the tour. We will be eating a lot of sweet things, so consider only having a light lunch/snack to balance out the sugar intake. Please note that the above descriptions are subject to change based on seasonal availability and the changing food scene in Toulouse (i.e. hot chocolate will be switched out for something equally delicious in the summertime).

Price Excludes

Additional food and drink that you wish to purchase yourself.

In order to keep the tour moving, I discourage shopping during the tour – especially with larger groups. However, you’ll receive an email after the tour with a list of all of the locations visited and what we tasted at each so that you can return later to continue your “research.”

Price

75 € for adults, 65 € for children aged 5-12

Book with confidence!

We offer free changes or cancellations up to 48 hours before the start of our small group tours.

Highlights

  • Wander through the charming cobblestone streets of Toulouse, mixing a bit of culinary history with interesting stories about the city.
  • Discover the training, talent, and high-quality ingredients that go into the exceptional products created by award-winning pastry chefs and chocolatiers.
  • Explore the process of turning cacao beans into chocolate and taste what the ``big deal`` is about single-origin chocolates.
  • Sip on some of the best hot chocolate in Toulouse (we switch this for ice cream when it's hot!), then later on, linger over our last pastry stop with a beverage of your choice.
  • Sample both classic desserts and new innovations, and uncover the basic components and building blocks of all French pastry.
  • Continue your own sweet adventures with a list of everything we tried, the locations visited, and any other resources mentioned!

Tour details

Tours operate rain or shine. We will be walking at least 2 km along beautiful – but uneven – cobblestone streets. Most of the tour is spent walking or standing, as not all of the locations that we visit allow for seating. Please contact me directly regarding accessibility issues, as not all stops are wheelchair accessible.

Meeting location

We’ll meet very close to one of the major landmarks in the city center, easily accessible by metro. Exact location and detailed directions will be emailed along with your ticket confirmation.

What to Wear or Bring

We will be walking at least 2 km along cobblestone streets, so comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing is a must. Please dress appropriately (and bring an umbrella if necessary) to make sure you enjoy your time on the tour. We may sit down from time to time, but be prepared to spend most of the tour standing or walking. Again, comfortable clothing and shoes is a must.

To reduce environmental waste, I don’t distribute plastic water bottles, so if you would like water during the tour, please bring a reusable water bottle with you. Some of the locations may provide water, but it is not guaranteed at all stops.

Dietary Restrictions/Food Allergies

This tour is vegetarian and non-alcoholic. I am also happy to accommodate the following diets with advance notice:

  • Gluten-free (NOT Celiac)
  • Nut allergies (except in cases where cross-contamination is a serious concern)

Any of the above dietary requirements MUST be noted when booking to allow time to make arrangements for substitutions – some of which must be purchased outside the market. I ask that those with dietary restrictions book tours at least 24 hours in advance! Unfortunately, due to the selection of products available at the market, this tour is unable to accommodate vegans (if you are interested in arranging a private vegan-focused food tour in Toulouse, contact me!). If you have any questions regarding dietary accommodations or would like to see if I can accommodate other restrictions or food allergies (I often can – please ask!), email me directly before booking.

Cancellations/Refunds

Please review your order and the tour details carefully before booking. Tickets are refundable or exchangeable until 48 hours prior to the start time of the tour. I am happy to give you a refund, reschedule your reservation for another date (pending availability), convert your reservation to a voucher, or reassign your tickets to another person with at least 48 hours notice. Any changes MUST be communicated in writing to [email protected]

Alternate Tour Dates/Times

Tickets for the small groups tours go on sale 3 months in advance to allow time to confirm upcoming availability.

Interested in taking the Chocolate & Pastry tour on a different day and/or time? Contact me for availability and pricing. I’m very often able to add additional dates according to interest.

Booking For 1 Person

Unfortunately, due to the dramatically higher cost of providing a solo tour, we require a minimum of 2 people to run a tour. If you are trying to purchase a single ticket without success, we most likely don’t yet have any other reservations for that tour date. If that is the case, you can do the following:

  • Purchase 2 tickets to ensure that the tour runs. During the booking process, you’ll be asked for participant names. Write “single booking” in the space for the 2nd participant. If we receive more bookings for that date, we’ll automatically refund you for the second ticket.
  • Wait until closer to the date of the tour to see if we get other reservations before booking your ticket. If there are no bookings for a specific tour date, we close the bookings 18 hours in advance.
  • Contact us with your date of interest and we’ll let you know if anyone else has expressed interest in that date or if there may be alternative dates on either side that you could join.
