Eat Walk Edinburgh food tours visit five venues tasting locally sourced Scottish food with three of the stops also having drink tastings. Your local guide will talk about the history of the area and recommend other places to visit after the tour is over as you walk between venues.
On our food walking tour you will enjoy eating locally sourced Scottish food, drinking Scottish gin, whisky and beer (wine option at beer stop). Your local guide will talk about the history of the area as you walk between venues. At each stop your local guide will explain about the food you are eating and drink that you are tasting. You will also have time to chat with your fellow travellers on the tour as we limit the party size to 8 people.
The food walking tour takes in both the Old and New Town giving the chance to see and eat in the historical area of Edinburgh but also visit bars and restaurants in the New Town, built in late 18th early 19th Century, where locals are more likely to eat and drink. We have table reservations at all the stop where seating is provided.
As well as having tasting of Scottish Smoked Salmon, Stornoway Black Pudding, Wild Boar sausage, Scottish cheeses, charcuterie and dessert during the tour there will be the chance to taste haggis neeps & tatties, enjoy Edinburgh raspberry gin, Scottish beer and a Single cask malt whisky tasting (other drink alternatives available). All food eaten are served as tasting plates, but it is still best to skip lunch before the 1pm tour and no need for dinner after the 5pm tour.
You will be given audio headsets that allow you to listen to stories your local guide has to tell as you walk between venues at your own pace. You can wander off and take photos without missing what is being said by your guide.
The Old town part of the tour walks you through the Grassmarket, Victoria street, the Lawnmarket (on the Royal Mile) and Makars Court. While the New town section takes you down the Mound, past Princes St Gardens, onto Geoerge Street, Queen street, around Charlotte Square and finishes at the West End of Princes street.
At the end of the tour your guide will hand out maps showing the premises visited which also has offers/promotions should you wish to return to any of them for lunch, dinner or just a drink.
