Arrive in Entebbe, where adventure awaits you! A representative of Hornbill Treks and Safaris will greet you upon your arrival and take you to your hotel. Depending on your time of arrival, take a tour of Kampala, acquire local currency for the trip ahead, or unwind in your accommodations for the evening. Your safari begins as we depart from Kampala, driving towards Murchison Falls National Park. Enjoy lunch in Masindi before entering the park. Upon arrival, drive to the Top of the Falls for a spectacular view of the narrow gorge through which the mighty Mile cascades nearly 150 feet down. Here the Nile can be seen from various points all the way to Baker’s Summit. Check in at your accommodations for the evening and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Paraa Safari Lodge. Witness wildlife at its best with an early morning game drive in the park to find elephant, buffalo, lions, giraffe, and a variety of antelope. In the afternoon, relax at your hotel over lunch before taking a boat cruise on the Nile River. The Nile is home to Africa’s most dense hippo and crocodile populations, as well as a dazzling variety of water birds. The boat cruise will last up to three hours. After breakfast, head south to Kibale Forest National Park, home to one of Uganda’s astounding major rainforests. Kibale Forest is home to at least thirteen primate species, including the red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey. If this weren’t enough, Kibale also boasts a remarkable opportunity to to track habituated chimpanzees. More closely related to humans than any other living creature, chimpanzees are captivating to watch as they swing from the fruiting trees in the depths of the rainforest. In the morning, set out on your chimpanzee trek in the rainforest! The trek, which may last two to four hours, offers the chance of watching chimps in their natural habitat. Bird lovers are also in for a treat, as the rainforest also hosts an astonishing 335 bird species. After the trek, return to your accommodations for lunch. The afternoon holds a nature walk in the Bigodi Swamp, a haven for birds, including the famed Blue Turaco. Later, leave for Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in the evening. After breakfast, take a drive to the Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions. A game drive in Ishasha takes us in search of the large cats as they lounge in the park’s trees; only in this region of East Africa are you likely to witness these incredible animals. The day begins with one last game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park before traveling to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the approximately half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas. This ancient forest unfolds over the steep ridges of the Albertine Rift Valley, providing breathtaking views and extraordinary wildlife viewing opportunities. After breakfast we will meet the park rangers who will be our guides for the day, and then we will start the trek in search of the exquisite mountain gorillas of Uganda. Trekking can last between thirty minutes and eight hours, but once you discover the gorillas, you will be able to spend one unforgettable hour with them. Looking into the deep animated brown eyes of the gorillas is sure to be the most exciting wildlife encounter that Africa has to offer. Gorilla trekking begins where the gorillas were last seen the previous day. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the midst of the Impenetrable Forest before returning to your accommodations for dinner and an overnight stay. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Depart from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the morning and head to Lake Bunyonyi, where over 200 bird species have been recorded: “Bunyonyi” means “the place of many birds.” Lake Bunyonyi is also among the deepest crater lakes in African, and is one of the few African lakes considered completely safe for swimming. The lake is surrounded by vivid green hills that have been terraced and cultivated by farmers. The lake’s temperature rises up to approximately 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit), creating an ideal atmosphere for a leisurely swim in the wild. After breakfast, we set off to Lake Mburo National Park, refreshed and relaxed. Lake Mburo National Park is considered the best place in the country to witness the enormous Eland Antelope, zebra, Topi, Impala, and the numerous birds drawn to the Acacia tree. Explore the park with an afternoon game drive and walking safari in the company of a ranger. Dinner and an overnight stay in the park at Mihingo Lodge. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Take a morning game drive through the Acacia savanna and woodlands of the park. Wildlife here includes Zebra, Impala, Eland Antelope, buffalo, Topi, warthog, and the occasional leopard. The park also offers an abundance of savanna bird species, including the Cocqui Francolin, Lapwings, and Hornbills. After the game drive, begin the scenic drive back to Kampala. Along the way, we will stop at the equator for lunch and a chance to see local crafts. The visit will also include a stop at a local drum shop to see how the traditional drums are made. After breakfast, we head to Jinja, home to the source of the longest river in the world, the Nile. Enjoy a boat ride on the river as we witness the starting point of the river that will make its 6,4000 kilometer journey all the way to the Mediterranean. Stop in downtown Jinja for lunch before heading back to Kampala for dinner and an overnight stay at your accommodations. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
