A full days adventure enjoying some of Highland Perthshire’s finest produce and looking to get out of the citys and explore Scotlands stunning food producers and delights amongst the beauty of the Highlands.
We will get the day going with your morning pick-up from your hotel or arranged collection point (covering all major cities in Scotland) by myself in our luxury minibus.
We start the day with a refreshing trail walk in one of Perthshire’s many forestry reserves, priming your taste buds for the first of the days food tasting experiences – locally sourced & smoked salmon from ‘Dunkeld Smoked Salmon‘ – their traditional cold smoked and hot smoked salmon has been served to the Queen no less.
A small family run artisan smokehouse situated near the banks of the River Tay in the beautiful historic village of Dunkeld, Perthshire. The Smokehouse first began smoking 40 years ago to originally smoke anglers own fish and their master smoker Ronnie has been there 26 years perfecting the art of smoking for both wild and farmed fish. Each fish is individually cured by hand in small batches before being slowly smoked in kilns over whisky barrel chips and oak dust giving the salmon a unique flavour and texture. As a business they are totally committed to ethical and sustainable sourcing.
Treating this as a ‘starter’ for the days tasting ahead, we travel onto Aberfeldy for our next port of call on this tasting tour in the Highlands.
Each venue has varying levels of tastings and prices available to suit your needs – these external costs are NOT INCLUDED in the tour price – please discuss options available on Booking.
THE DAY JUST GETS BETTER…
And onto Errichel House and Restaurant, Thyme at Errichel Restaurant is situated in the beautiful Roundhouse, Errichel House. With panoramic views over the glorious Tay Valley and the Gardens of Errichel, a small family run hill farm, with native rare breed livestock; Shetland Cattle, Large Black Pigs and Shetland Sheep.
Their Rare Breed Shetland Cattle have been born and raised at Errichel alongside their Rare Breed Large Black Pork – Nurtured by Paul & Rebecca over the years to produce a fantastic, well matured meat. The animals have roamed free on the farm to enjoy the open spaces and food available to them throughout the year with Paul being able to get up close with each animal to ensure their health and upkeep is of the best standing – this love and care comes accross in every meal.
With plenty of local beauty spots and walks available to us in the area (including the famous Birks of Aberfeldy), we can stretch our legs and let your lunch settle with a walk of your choosing before making our way to the village of Grandtully and the ‘Highland Chocolatier’ Iain Burnett.
You will be given a personally guided insight into the world of artisan gourmet chocolate, its craftsmanship and subtleties. Enjoy a glimpse into the art of a Master Chocolatier, the differing flavours, ingredients and textures of Iain Burnett’s creations, the processes to create great chocolate from the tree to the kitchen, and the difference between true artisan gourmet chocolate and others – an exceptional taste experience.
From here, satisfied from the days adventures and experiences, it is time to head home (back to the arranged point of departure/drop off point), and deliver you back to your accommodation for a well-deserved rest after a long day.
