“Soča, you are the beautiful daughter of the mountains”. That is how the famous Slovenian poet Simon Gregorčič described the Slovenian river Soča, which impresses everyone with its emerald color and picturesque surroundings.
Its water flows across waterfalls, small waterfalls, and cascades as well as through narrow rocky gorges, and along the way, it has carved surprising canyons and pools. For a lot of visitors, Soča is one of the most amazing rivers in Europe. It is especially popular amongst people who enjoy fishing, rafting, canoeing, and other outdoor activities.

The first part of the journey will lead you from Tolmin to the town Most na Soči. There you’ll take a train to Nova Gorica, known as Slovenian Las Vegas. We highly recommend a visit to the tombs of the last bourbons and a garden with bourbon roses in the Kostanjevica monastery. After a short stroll and a coffee in the city of roses, you will cycle past the Solkan Bridge, which is known as the longest stone arch in the world. Cycling on the new cycle lane along the Soča River you will arrive at the small town Kanal ob Soči. This is the most beautiful part of Soča’s path to the Sea because it offers a lot of rapids and pools. It truly is a beautiful sight to behold. Continue along the regional road to Most na Soči, a small town sunbathing on the pier above the confluence of Soča and Idrijca. The place is one of the most important archeological sites in the Southeastern Alps. Next to the town, there is an accumulation lake, the home of the famous paddle wheeler Lucija. Five kilometers ahead we finish our tour in Tolmin.
