Scottish Food and Drink Tours has been born out of a family which has produced Scottish Food and Drink for generations. Family kitchen tables laden with the best local food and drink and over hundred years of recipes passed from mother to daughter.
We want to support our local food and drink producers, our local shops, local farmers and foragers. We have taken time to build connections and partnerships with Scottish Food and Drink businesses who make real handmade food with a lot of passion.
You travel to the historic town of Eyemouth, perched on the coast of the North Sea.
Here, you learn about the history of Scottish tea smuggling at Gunsgreen House, a Georgian mansion built specifically to hide tea from the excisemen. But the secret hiding places are empty today, and you don’t have to worry about unwanted visits from the government officials. You can relax in the beautiful Georgian dining room and taste something totally new: kombucha. This sweet fermented tea is created by the local artisan, Left Field Kombucha, who will tell you all about this fascinating drink.
Then, get ready for a special, Scottish seaside lunch: fish and chips and ice-cream at the award-winning restaurant, Giacopazzi’s.
You’ve got free time to wander around the town’s traditional working harbour before you travel back to Edinburgh in the afternoon. Here, you visit a working tea and coffee factory and meet the team of Edinburgh Tea and Coffee Company. These experts know everything about this drink. After all, their company first blended the tea for Queen Victoria in 1812; and the business has been catering for tea lovers ever since. Roll up your sleeves because you finish the day with blending your own breakfast brew that you can take away to savour at home.
We will confirm your pickup location by email prior to your tour date. This is normally Edinburgh city centre or at our premises in Midlothian.
