This is not just a coastal walk in Victoria; it’s a wonderful journey. Our self-guided Great Ocean Walk Tours have amazed and entertained visitors for over 15 years. As a local family business, Walk 91’s passion is in helping you discover the natural beauty and wonderful local history of the Great Ocean Walk… without the stress of planning.
The concept of Walk 91 was an idea that came to life in the early 2000s. I had the privilege of working as a Ranger with Parks Victoria, in Apollo Bay, and helped to build the Great Ocean Walk. My wife Nancy and I fell in love with this wonderful town and dreamed of making Apollo Bay our permanent home, having children & raising them on the doorstep of the beautiful Otway National Park. Once the walk was complete, we took the plunge and created our adventure business Apollo Bay Surf & Kayak in 2002 swiftly followed by Walk 91.
When the walk first opened to the public in 2005 it was 91 kilometers long, instead of the 104 kilometers, it is now. We didn’t realize that the walk’s length would change after its opening or we would have chosen a different name! It has been wonderful to see the walk extended to end at the iconic 12 Apostles, rather than at the previous finishing point of Glenample. The Great Ocean Walk has now become an iconic must-do trip for walkers and tourists from all over the world.
